FADE IN
INT. – POLICE DEPARTMENT – DAY
Special Investigations is hardly a busy department, but those working there don’t seem to notice. SENGA, however, is bored out of her skull.
SENGA sits in her office, playing with her pencil. TUCKER opens the door, smiling.
TUCKER
Goooood morning. Ready to work?
SENGA looks up from her pencil, glaring at him.
SENGA
What do you know about the Lilim?
TUCKER stares at her, confused.
SENGA
I’m not the one who has to be ready to work.
SENGA laughs a little, and pushes her book towards him.
SENGA
Here, read and learn.
TUCKER takes the book and looks it over.
TUCKER
Demons? Really, Senga?
SENGA pushes over the case file, and opens it up to the crime scene photos.
SENGA
The symbols drawn in the victim’s blood are symbols ritually used by the followers of Lilith, in their ceremonies. It doesn’t look good.
TUCKER
And you discovered this overnight?
SENGA
My mother suggested it. She knows a lot about this kind of thing.
TUCKER
Why didn’t you mention this before?
SENGA
Because I don’t speak to her very often. She’s a bit overbearing.
TUCKER nods and continues to read.
TUCKER
So – what do we do?
SENGA
There’s not much we can do. They’re like succubae. They suck the souls out of men in their dreams. You have fun with that.
SENGA smirks, and opens out another book, an older book.
TUCKER
What’s that?
SENGA
Oh – just a little extra research.
TUCKER picks up the cover and peeks at it.
TUCKER
Why would there be a pentagram on the cover? And who’s Annika Omirou?
SENGA
It’s my mother’s book of shadows. She’s letting me borrow it, but I get it when she dies.
TUCKER raises an eyebrow.
TUCKER
Book of shadows?
SENGA
She’s a witch. Plain and simple. Pointy hat and green skin.
TUCKER
Are you serious?
SENGA rolls her eyes, and flips through the book.
SENGA
Ah Ha! There’s something in here about them – a spell maybe…
TUCKER
Does it begin with double double toil and trouble?
SENGA
Interestingly enough – no. And it’s not actually a spell. Dammit.
SENGA pouts a little, and sits back, defeated.
TUCKER
And you’re not a witch, right?
SENGA
Not really. I don’t practice anymore. And I’m done talking about it.
TUCKER nods, and puts the book down, done reading.
TUCKER
But I want to hear more.
